1st Annual African American Adolescent Female Summer Literacy Institute at the University of Illinois at Chicago
We are currently seeking 15 African American adolescent females to participate in the 1st Annual African American Adolescent Female Summer Literacy Institute (AAAFSLI) that will be hosted on the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago from June 29th-July 29th. AAAFSLI is for young women ranging in age 11-17. The young women will come together from 1:30pm- 4:30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the five-week institute. It is expected that the young women attend all fifteen sessions. Each participant will receive a $150 stipend for her participation.
The African American Adolescent Female Summer Literacy Institute, under the direction of Lynette Danley and Gholdy Muhammad, will serve to nurture the next generation of socially conscious writers.
