My Experience at the After School Matters Citywide Showcase

On April 9, 2014, After School Matters held a citywide showcase at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance to give a taste of the programs and talents of participating students, and it was amazing.

There are some gifted students in this city and this program is cultivating those gifts. Check out these skateboards:

Yes, students did that. Programs include science, sports, culinary and arts. They even have Improv, glass blowing and bicycle repair.

A couple students were explaining green technology while another group was learning forensic science. They showed us how fingerprints were uncovered at crime scenes. That was too cool.

Young people were video recording guests about their experience at the event, while another group was selling the purses and other creations they handmade. Oh, and the Chicago opera singers are the ish!

I’ll be honest, if time permitted and I thought I could “drop in” for FREE instruction from these programs, I would.

Anyway, encourage teens you know to participate and have them to sign up today!
