Sunday, May 23rd-10am – Pullman to Beaubien Woods

Starting off at Arcade Park at 10am, we’ll take a leisurely, guided ride from Pullman through the former industrial areas beyond Sherwin-Williams properties to Beaubien Woods near 134th Street.   Passing natural areas struggling to return amidst former industrial plants, we’ll experience a peacefulness along the way while we learn about the past and present. Join with riders from the Pullman Youth Group, Pullman Business Council, Active Transportation Alliance, Field Museum, Historic Pullman Garden Club, Southeast Environmental Task Force, Folks on Spokes- Calumet, Friends of the Major Taylor Trail, and the Blue Island Bike Club.

Total: about 6 miles; 2 1/2 hours. Pack a lunch; wear your helmut. If it’s raining, go back to bed!

To prepare for this ride, a FREE bike clinic will be held on Tuesday, May 18 at 5pm at Arcade Park. Howard Pence, owner of Compleat Cyclist in Dolton will do minor repairs, tune-ups, and teach you about your bicycle.
