Voter Registration & Education
During my break, I was blessed with the opportunity to attend the News Literacy Curriculum Workshop at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL sponsored by Stony Brook University and MacArthur Foundation. The entire experience was great! We had cool instructors, very nice colleagues and good food.
We were taught how to judge news and news sources, which is instrumental in this time of information overload. We also had to create a lesson plan based on our instruction. I decided to include education as part of my voter registration drives. In addition to registering people to vote, I will teach voters how to evaluate candidates and provide resources on how to evaluate their platforms. It should be cool. I do ask for mercy if you are my first group; I’m in training.
With that said, call me if you would like to schedule a voter registration drive at your community event, school, church or any other event. I do ask that you give me at least 30 minutes for the education session.
