Summer & Neighborhood Festivals

Summer festivals and events and neighborhood festivals are annual traditions in Chicago. These events include, but are not limited to: Chicago Blues Fest, Chicago Gospel Fest, Taste of Chicago and the Air an Water Show. Many of these events are free to attend, but check out the details before you go.

12th Annual Beverly Hills Cycling Classic – Thursday, July 24, 2014

44th Annual Home Tour – Sunday, October 5, 2014

Private homes significant for their architecture, history or decorating are opened for touring on Sunday October 5th for Chicagoland’s oldest annual home tour.

Restoring Bronzeville Tour

This popular tour follows the footprint of the original ‘Black Belt’ that became the Bronzeville Historic District .

Black Metropolis, Pullman Porter Great Migration and Blues Trail Tour

Starting at Johnson/Ebony Publication and ending with an outdoor tent picnic at the A. Philip Randolph Museum Gallery,this tour travels through the greater south side of Chicago’s African American community in an all cultural experience.

The Tour of Duty

This tour explores the connections of Bronzeville, President Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War.

Civil War to Civil Right

Beginning with the tales and trails of the Underground Railroad we then move on to Civil War contributions, and to our historic activities during the Civil Rights Movement.

Guests can use our Walking Tour Brochure to tour the district during your visit.

First Sunday Walking Tours
Guided tours are available to the public on the first Sunday of the month, from May to October (see our Calendar page for dates).

School and Private Group Tours
School or private group tours for twenty or more people can be arranged for any time of year.
