Chicago Police Will Be on Spring Break Patrol from April 15 – 25

Chicago Police

Chicago’s finest is stepping up safety patrols from April 15 – April 25, 2011 to ensure safety of young people during spring break.  Specifically, they will increase police visibility, enhance curfew enforcement and work active partnerships with community members, Chicago Public Schools, and City and law enforcement agencies.

Because young people are more likely to get in trouble when unsupervised, especially during the late evening and early morning hours, the CP “will strictly enforce curfew violations during curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.”

All 25 Chicago Police Districts have schedules of events that include safe and supervised activities to engage young people in constructive pastimes over spring break.

While the spring break efforts are commendable, Deputy Superintendent Brown urged greater community involvement to help protect youth and build safer communities year round.
