A few journalists and I went to Billy Goat Tavern on430 N. Michigan Ave on yesterday. There were eight of us total. One other person and I asked for water. So, we’re talking and having a great time, and after a while one of the guys looked and said, “Where are your drinks?” The other person and I looked around, and then looked at each other, completed dumbfounded. The other person had ordered her drink waaay before I had, but her table space was still empty.
Now, we were the only two black people our of our group. And we were the only ones who didn’t get our drinks.
So, what do you think ?
- Were we discriminated against?
- Did the waitress forget about us?
- Does the wait staff think water is not tip-worthy?
