On Friday, December 6, 2013, Imagine Englewood, If… (IEi), an organization committed to making Englewood a better community, was burglarized at approximately 3:00 a.m. The following items were stolen:
- Six computers
- Computer speakers
- A fax machine
- A brand new hot plate
While no one was hurt during the incident, many people were impacted by the robbery. Jean Carter-Hill, Executive Director of IEi; the staff and volunteers of IEi; and the students that used the computers for homework, literacy and journalism classes, as well as for their job searches. In fact, the ENTIRE community was impacted.
I’m personally pissed because Ms. Hill is a retiree who could easily be chillaxin’, traveling and being footloose and free. Instead, she is pouring a lot of time, effort and commitment into making this community a better place to live.
Let’s help IEi replace what was stolen in the robbery by donating the following to the organization:
- Computers, computer speakers, a fax machine and a hot plate to replace the stolen items
- A better security system
- Financial contributions in any amount
You can drop them off at their headquarters located at 730 W. 69th St. Contact Executive Director Jean Carter-Hill at (773) 488-6704 to make arrangements.
Note: Ms. Hill doesn’t know that I’m requesting donations on her behalf, so please let her know that you heard about the robbery from Marcie Hill or Shorty.
I read about the break in and went out the next day and bought Mrs. Hill a brand new laptop computer as well as donated a used canon printer/scanner. I delivered the items that day. I’d never met her before but have so much respect for what she does that I felt compelled to help her out. What an awesome woman! I plan on volunteering at her center in the coming year.
Jacquline, thank you for sharing how you helped Ms. Hill on my site. You will be blessed.
