Youth ages 3 to 14 years of age are encouraged to participate in Reading is Art-RAGEOUS, an eight-week, drop-in summer reading program. The program was created to encourage the joy of books with the theme of “celebrating art and reading every day.” Young people not only have to read the books; they have write reports, too.
While reading enhancement is one of the rewards of the program, children who read picture books and those being read aloud to will receive a t-shirt after completing 25 books. Children who read 10 chapter books over the eight-week period will also get a t-shirt. There will be weekly raffles. AND, all participants and their families will be invited to attend “Reader’s Night at the Art Institute of Chicago.” The program runs from June 14 through August 7.
No need for adults to feel left out. The Adult summer reading program will be going on from June 1 through August 31.
