Thank you for sharing your thoughts and these resources. Do you think a statue is really a good way to acknowledge slavery in America?
If this is how they want to acknowledge Slavery any acknowledgement is better then none but when you start making monuments then it certainly shows that it is time to pay for the wrongs that went went Slavery it seems to me that White people have a very hard time acknowledging slavery they don’t want to talk about it and pretend it is progressive to deny it happened or lack emotions that it happened it happened here and something needs to be done to compensate the descendant of the slaves because nothing they said they would do has been done this far . Andrew Johnson put a halt to reconstruction some few years later the U.S allowed the 14TH amendment to be breached the 13TH amendment was a euphemism which stated they could re enslave if one broke any of their laws which is used to imprison black men only rendering an invisible noose by applying criminology to take there freedom . If this is the way America wants to acknowledge its wealth and for the crime it committed against my Ancestor’s I welcome it as long as they realize that this monument represents another African Burial Ground and it should also be prepared to pay for these criminal acts.
Thank you so much for your thoughts on this issue.
