I received a personal birthday wish from State Treasurer Dan Rutherford today. And I was taken aback. First of all, he is a public official who took time to send a personal message. Second, he’s a public official. Do you know how many people that we elect who will take the time to know your first name, let alone your birthday???

I sent him an e-mail asking how he got my birthday information. He personally responded – ON A SATURDAY – stating that they were from the voter records.

So, he researched my information AND responded on a Saturday!!! More cool points for Mr. Rutherford!

Can you imagine what would happen if more public officials actually took the time to connect with constituents??
