GET OUT TO VOTE TODAY!

Vote

For today’s primary elections, we are selecting the Illinois state officials, Cook County officials and judges who will run in the general elections in November. Polls close at 7 p.m.

What’s the difference between the primary and general elections? I don’t know, but here’s an educational piece from the United States Department of State that can tell you more.

Can I be totally and completely honest? The ONLY reason why I vote is because I know what black people had to overcome in order to get that right. I do understand the power of politics (if you are rich) and I do know that our votes make a difference here in Chicago but I don’t know how. Can somebody enlighten me, please?

Most importantly, though, I do know that you should exercise your right to vote because your vote is your voice.

One More Thing

I’d like to thank Ms. Joan, the Freedom of Information Act Officer at the Chicago Board of Elections, for responding my request for information in a timely manner. She was most helpful and greatly appreciated.
