Would they quit? Nope.They wouldn’t be happy, but they definitely wouldn’t quit.
Better yet, what if they actually had to work for the $115,000 per year?
Do you think Aldermen should earn $115,000 per year for the work they perform? What do they do exactly? Anybody seen job descriptions?
Many people feel that these fine elected officials only work part-time and are receiving full-time pay. What do you think?
Do you know if the pay of 50 Alderman were cut in half, approximately $2.875 mil would be saved? Let’s translate into salaries for other people.
95 people earning approximately $30,000 per year could work;
71 people earning approximately $40,000 per year could work;
57 people earning approximately $50,000 per year could work.
And all the complaints about the lack of police may be addressed with a few more officers on the street. Like the one Alderman said on the news report: it’s cheaper to hire a new officer than to pay a seasoned officer. So, they would fall between the 40K – 50k.
This was just a thought and I wanted to share. So, what do you think? What would Aldermen do if their pay were cut? Do you think they should be earning $115k? Do you know what the responsibilities of their jobs are?
